RORA is a versatile and challenging individual. She has always ventured into various fields, becoming a gold medalist athlete and delving into piano, art, dance, music, and beauty. One morning, the fragrant and nutty aroma of brewing coffee made by her mother captivated RORA, marking the beginning of her love for coffee. This newfound interest led her to start working in a cafe, aspiring to become a barista.

Fond of the stage, she pondered whether there was an opportunity to tell her story with coffee on a stage. By chance, she saw a poster for a latte art competition and, craving a new challenge, decided to enter.

Starting latte art in 2013, 2 years later she begin her challenge in competitions. she faced elimination in the preliminaries of dozens of competitions over several years.

In 2019, she attempt again at a world competition in Japan and became the world champion by winning it. Subsequently, in 2020, she became the first Korean woman to be a national representative, secured the runner-up position at the World Latte Art Championship in 2022, and proudly won the Thailand World Championship in 2023, where over 150 baristas from around the world participated.

Her diverse experiences as an athlete and a latte art champion, thriving in a world of infinite competition, have laid a solid foundation for her to continuously excel in the new challenges of establishing and running the RO&UM company.

UMPAUL had always been curious since childhood, enjoying researching things that intrigued him and teaching them to his friends. He also liked drawing and cooking but ended up attending a college he didn't want to. One day in the winter of 2004, while worrying about his uncertain future and studying, he stopped by a small cafe to wake himself up from drowsiness.

At that moment, UMPAUL thought, "There are drawing on food. My favorite activities, cooking and drawing, are all inside this coffee cup." After that day, he decided to become a barista in that small size of coffee shop without any hesitation.

Starting with his own brewing and roastery cafe in 2005, being able to become the Latte Art World Champion was a result of his childhood curiosity, his love for teaching friends, drawing, and cooking. This is why he have kept his love for coffee and latte art, allowing him to share it with the world for about 20 years up to 2024.

UMPAUL always pondered how he could easily share his love for coffee with the world. Thus, from 2005, he began recording his curiosity about coffee in notebooks. The accumulation and organization of these coffee books and several notebooks of trials and errors laid the foundation for the RO&UM COFFEE SCHOOL, where baristas worldwide can now learn together.

UMPAUL's curiosity, along with his passion for research and education through trial and error, combined with RORA's spirit of challenge and systematic operational abilities, led to the establishment of RO&UM, named after RORA & UMPAUL's initials. This partnership enabled the development of the Channeling Master Tamper, a solution to simplify channeling—a first in the world—and the creation of the RO&UM COFFEE SCHOOL, where baristas globally can study coffee easily, clearly, and in-depth.

RO&UM COFFEE SCHOOL aims to globally advance everything related to coffee, including beans, product development, publishing coffee books, and merchandise. The school is committed to expanding in a global direction continuously and plans to consistently engage with the students attending the classes.
